NorthStar Initiative for Sustainable Enterprise

The NorthStar Initiative for Sustainable Enterprise (NISE), a unique program of the Institute on the Environment, is helping organizations address complex sustainability challenges by aligning both private and public interests.

One of the University of Minnesota’s key investments, NISE is leveraging expertise from across sectors to bring vital social and environmental change. We’re creating the knowledge needed to deliver high-impact results quickly—moving beyond incremental approaches to sustainability.

A central component of NISE, the NorthStar Consortium is identifying shared challenges across organizations, along with the technologies and strategies essential to truly sustainable change. The consortium facilitates dialogue with a parallel research agenda, creating sustainable frameworks and pathways with real-world impact.
