Dr. Gillian Roehrig is Co-Director of the STEM Education Center and an Associate Professor of Science Education in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. She received her PhD in Science Education from the University of Arizona in 2002 exploring different support programs for beginning secondary science teachers. Before coming to the University of Minnesota, she was an Assistant Professor of Chemistry Education at San Diego State University where she studied the impact of reform-based curriculum on teachers' inquiry-based classroom practices. While at Minnesota, she has continued her interests in improving secondary science instruction focusing in inter-disciplinary approaches to teaching and learning. A specific inter-disciplinary interest is climate change education which is the focus of her IonE fellowship.
