Efi Foufoula-Georgiou is a University of Minnesota McKnight Distinguished Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering and the Joseph T. and Rose S. Ling Chair in Environmental Engineering. She directs the National Center for Earth-surface Dynamics and has served as director of the St. Anthony Falls Laboratory.
Foufoula's research focuses on three primary areas: quantifying the fundamental relations needed to predict landscape evolution; modeling land changes in lowland depositional systems; and understanding the physical-ecological functioning of streams, deltas and watersheds in order to restore these degrading natural systems.
As a resident fellow of the Institute on the Environment, she is working to leverage the activities of NCED with the IonE's agenda in research, education and public outreach.
See Foufoula's faculty page for more info.
